The adidas® Mini London Marathon
Last Sunday runners age 11-17 competed in the London Mini Marathon 2007
The club had athletes representing Camden, Islington ,Hackney, City of London and others
The Girls and Boys from Camden previously ran in two selection races held at Somers Town and Finsbury Park.
The adidas® Mini London Marathon is run over the last 2.65 miles of the Marathon course from the junction of Southwark Bridge and Upper Thames Street to The Mall and involves age category races for children of 11-17. This race has taken place since 1986 involving representatives from 33 London boroughs. Additionally, in 1998 teams from selected cities nationwide were introduced, thus involving young people from all over the UK. The event proved very popular and, since 2001, the regional teams were invited from counties based on their performances at the English Schools Cross Country Championships

Camden , Westminster , Islington, Hackne ..........
click news heading to read more
Camden , Westminster , Islington, Hackney, Brent are a few of the 'London Boroughs' within the County of Middlesex
which spreads to the East and West ,North of the River Thames.
Some parts of South London are in Surrey.
Many Londoners do not realise which County they live in
but know The London Borough as set up by the old Greater London Council.
To check there is a map of Middlesex by the club 'list' on
http://www.middlesexaa.org.uk/
Outside of London most people know which County they are from or live in Bedfordshire, Lancashire, Suffolk etc
You can take part in any Middlesex County Championships if: you were born in Middlesex
OR you go to school in Middlesex
OR you live in Middlesex
Similarly if born in another County you may enter their championships but must stick with one county during One season.
I hope this helps clear up any County confusion!

The South of England ( SEAA) Indoor Athletics Championships 2007
Was held at the recently opened Indoor athletics Centre at Lee Valley Centre Pickets Lock, Edmonton.
The centre is the first of its size in the South of England and boasts a 200m running track and indoor throwing area.
The recent success rate at International level of Swedish Athletes has been put down to the number of indoor athletic centres they have built around the country which enable all year round training in what ever the weather.
Why not build one in Camden or Islington? All the young athletes from Highgate Harriers loved the facility especially since the Parliament Hill outdoor track was closed on Thursday due to 80mph Winds!
In her first ever and the SEAA ‘s first ever Indoor Under 17 women's 1500m race
Alice Keane hung in there for a SEAA Bronze medal in (5.34.67)
Eucalypta Bradley got into the Under 15 Girls shot putt final achieving 5th place with a new personal best of (9.12 metres).
