Indoor Athletics Championships 2007
Was held at the recently opened Indoor athletics Centre at
Lee Valley Centre Pickets Lock, Edmonton. The centre is the first of its size in the South of England and boasts a 200m running track and indoor throwing area.
The recent success rate at International level of Swedish Athletes has been put down to the number of indoor athletic centres they have built around the country which enable all year round training in what ever the weather.
Why not build one in Camden or Islington? All the young athletes from Highgate Harriers loved the facility especially since the Parliament Hill outdoor track was closed on Thursday due to 80mph Winds!
In her first ever and the SEAA's first ever Indoor Under 17 women's 1500m race
Alice Keane hung in there for a
SEAA Bronze medal in
(5.34.67)
Eucalypta Bradley got into the Under 15 Girls shot putt final achieving
5th place with a new personal best of
(9.12 metres).
In U15 Girls Long jump
Eucalypta Bradley (4.11m) 16th
Hannah Rose (3.51m) 20th and 60m Hurdles semi final 6th (10.53)PB
U17 Men
60m Sprint
Eric Guei semi final 6th (7.51) heat (7.45)
Anthony Norris semi final (DNS) heat (7.46)
Both ran national qualifying times
Senior Men 60m Sprint final Simeon Williamson 2nd (6.70)
to Craig Pickering, (who broke Simeon's SEAA record last year) with a new championship record of 6.56
U20 Men 800m Final Atak Diing. He ran (2.00.4) to qualify for final but was unfortunately Disqualified in the final.
